Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert was born Nov. 10, 1983, and is a native of Lindale, Texas. Her father Rick is a country guitarist and songwriter. During the week, he and Miranda's mother Bev run a detective agency but country music is the heart of the household. Miranda discovered Garth Brooks which began her love for country music and led her to enter her first talent contest when she was just 10. At 13 she became a fan of Nashville’s Fun Festivals. She entered and placed well in the Texas competition when she was 16 and then began appearing on the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington. In 2001, her family launched a website showcasing Miranda’s CD’s. Her mother drove her to radio stations and called clubs to promote her and get bookings. Miranda was selected as a contestant on Nashville Star in 2003 and moved to Nashville to appear on the show. She finished third but ultimately signed with Sony Music. Her debut album Kerosene debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart in early 2005. Her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was released in early 2007 had three hit singles; "Famous in a Small Town", "Gunpowder & Lead", and "More Like Her" on the Top 20 country charts. "Gunpowder & Lead" became her first Top 10 country hit in July 2008. Lambert is only the third female country singer in history to have three records debut at #1 on Billboard Country Albums. In 2005 Lambert began dating fellow country singer Blake Shelton and also sang background vocals on Shelton's 2008 single "Home", recorded and co-wrote a duet with Shelton, "Bare Skin Rug". On May 9, 2010 Shelton proposed to Lambert after seeking (and receiving) her father's permission and they became engaged. A wedding date has not been set.
